The Women and Infant Resource Specialists at WIC program provides increased access and linkage to resources and safety education for pregnant women and women with children who are receiving the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Services. The four Resource Specialists work with staff at eight WIC sites in Hillsborough County and assist in providing education, resources and support. They also triage parents and their children into services based on assessed risk factors. The program focuses on pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women; an infant up to the age of one year; or a child aged one through their fifth birthday. Funding is provided by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County.
